DONATATIONS ARE THE CORNERSTONE OF BUILDING FOR THE FUTURE

The Lake County Historical Society accepts financial donations, in-kind donations or donations to the permanent collection of the Society to be held in trust for the residents of Lake County.

As a 501 (C3) organization, all contributions to the Society are tax deductible and are recognized in writing for IRS requirements.  Your donation allows the Society to track local support while applying for grants and government funds, gives the Society a firmer financial footing when planning for the future and assures the growth of the museum’s permanent collection.

CASH- The Society accepts financial donations through its Annual Fund campaign.  These funds are used to support the operation of the Center and reduce the cost of children’s programming. Funds given at the $150 level or above will receive special donor recognition.  Individuals who are interesting in supporting a particular project or area of operation may make their donations restricted to be used only for that project.  These restricted funds are kept in separate accounts from general operations.

ENDOWMENT DONATIONS- (use what is there and add:  Donations to Endowments are invested and only the earned interest is withdrawn, if needed, for operations at the Museum.  This is an excellent way to assure the future of the Lake County History Center.

CAPITAL CAMPAIGN- The Society will be conducting a Capital Campaign from 2012-2014 for the following projects; purchase of the current site to leverage a $250,000 State appropriation to build an elevator needed to make the building ADA compliant, building bathrooms in the Historic Village for school programs, enlargement and redesign of parking facilities for safety and space concerns.  Total to be raised $750,000. Donor recognition includes naming of museum spaces for donors.

IN-KIND- These donations take many forms from goods to services and include items from individual donors to corporate assistance with large projects.  Everything in this category is usable in some way.  Please contact the Center if you wish to make an in-kind donation at 440-639-2945, ex. 11.

PERMANENT COLLECTION DONATION -  These items include those artifacts that tell Lake County’s story.  To be considered for the permanent collection, they must have a Lake County history and bring something to the permanent collection not already represented. Donations include a wide range of items from clothing and furniture to photographs and letters. All donated items have a tax deductible value and a recognition letter is provided to the donor.  All donated items become the property of LCHS. Please contact the Collections Management Coordinator 440-639-2945 to arrange a viewing or appointment.
